Nutrition Plans : How To Prepare Green Tea For Weight Loss? (2022)

Since the beginning of recorded history, people in Asia have seen green tea as more than simply a beverage. This tradition dates back 4,000 years. Green tea was traditionally used as a herbal medication and therapy for a wide variety of conditions, ranging from headaches and depression to obesity and weight reduction.

Over the last several years, studies have been carried out in an effort to determine which component of green tea gives it its powerful antioxidant properties and makes it such a popular choice among health-conscious consumers. The researchers came to the conclusion that green tea includes a number of antioxidants, the presence of which is responsible for many of the health advantages associated with drinking green tea, including the benefit of assisting in weight reduction.

The findings of a research study that was conducted jointly by experts from the United States and Switzerland and focused on the potential benefits of drinking green tea for weight reduction have been compiled and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and Urology. Throughout the course of their research, they came to the conclusion that green tea includes a number of different components, each of which contributes to the weight reduction effect that green tea offers.

According to the lead researcher, D. Abdul Dulloo, who was quoted in a news release, there are only two methods to accomplish weight loss: one is to lower the amount of energy that one consumes, and the other is to increase the amount of energy that one expends. It would seem that green tea contains components that, when introduced into the body, may cause a natural increase in the rate at which the body normally burns calories, which accounts for the weight reduction benefits of green tea.

Experiments were carried out on 10 young, healthy males by Dr. Dulloo and his fellow researchers at the University of Geneva, where the research was carried out. They postulated that the presence of caffeine in green tea was the primary factor responsible for the weight reduction benefits of drinking it. To put this weight loss benefit of green tea to the test, the researchers gave the participants in the study a typical “Western” diet consisting of about forty percent fat, thirteen percent protein, and forty-seven percent carbohydrates. This was done so that they could test the hypothesis that green tea aids in weight loss.

The researchers asked their participants to have their energy expenditure (the measurement that is used in determining the number of calories burned in 24 hours) measured three times a day, and their respiration quotient was monitored so that they could determine how efficiently the participants utilised the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in their diet.

When they interpreted the data they collected, they found out that the men receiving regular dosages of green tea extract showed a significant increase in their 24-hour energy expenditure and a reduction in their respiration quotient (which means that more fat is burned, thereby achieving maximum weight loss). On the other hand, those men who were only given caffeine or placebo with every meal showed only minimal increases in their metabolism rates.

The scientists construed that the substance catechin polyphenol present in green tea adds to its weight loss benefit. These substances in green tea may alter how the body uses the hormone norepinephrine which is responsible for increasing the metabolism rate, thus leading to weight loss.

In their conclusion, the scientists inferred that green tea owes its weight loss benefit to the presence of antioxidants and the substance catechin polyphenol. These substances help increase fat and calorie burning and optimize weight loss.
